  5. Do Braces Change Your...

An orthodontist suggests braces in malocclusions conditions to their patients. By malocclusions, we mean ‘ misaligned teeth’. Misalignment of teeth can be corrected through the use of braces. Malocclusion covers dental conditions such as overbite, under-bite, open-bite, gaps between the teeth, over-crowding, crooked teeth etc. Such conditions can be successfully treated through braces. Braces help in moving the teeth to the desired position and thereby correcting the alignment of the teeth. When there is a shift in the teeth it eventually results in a change in facial structure too. But braces do it only for better facial aesthetics than otherwise. Anything when aligned beautifully does appear more pleasing and so is with your smile and facial structure when the teeth are aligned properly they look more beautiful.

Do braces Change Your Face for the Better?

Be it gaps between the teeth, poor bite or crooked teeth, any malocclusion condition corrected through braces can bring a look change to your face. However, the change is for the betterment only as misaligned teeth affect the proper correlation of the upper and lower jaw which eventually disturbs the facial jawline. Treatment of different malocclusions problems results in different changes in facial structure.

  • For mild problems such as minor crowding or spacing, the treatment will result into proper teeth alignment and your smile will be the only significant change in the facial aesthetics rather than any prominent change in facial structure.
  • For moderate spacing and crowding problems, there will be a little noticeable change in the facial aesthetics which others might not notice but you will feel better and confident as teeth alignment and proper upper and lower jaw movements will make facial features shine out like never before.
  • For severe dental conditions like over-crowding, open bite or underbite etc, the change after braces treatment is significant yet aesthetically pleasing. For instance, In the case of an underbite, the lower jaw teeth fall over the upper jaw teeth, thus making the chin looks protruding forward and making the jawline look imbalanced but with the braces treatment, the teeth get perfectly aligned and the jawline improves to enhance your facial features. Similarly, in an overbite, the upper jaw teeth fall over the lower jaw teeth, making the chin look almost negligible and making the face look a little stretched outwards. With braces treatment, the teeth are moved to their proper position by applying slow and sustained pressure and making them fall in symmetrical alignment. This results in an aesthetically pleasing facial structure with proper jawlines and teeth alignment.

So, the rule is simple, the better the alignment of the teeth, the more attractive and pleasing will be your smile and facial features after the braces treatment. Clarifying the doubts over the much-asked question do braces change your face; well they change it to make you look more confident, attractive and beautiful!
